Account Manager
WHO WE ARE
Standard Practice is an independent creative agency founded by five industry veterans with a shared belief in doing the hard, responsible work of creating ideas people actually care about.
WHAT WE DO IS NOTHING NEW
We listen and learn about our clients’ businesses. We generate powerful ideas for brands that feel true and we hold ourselves responsible to make work that actually works.
None of this is groundbreaking, but it’s really hard to do. And, around here, it’s Standard Practice.
We are small by design, collaborative by nature, and independent in both structure and spirit. Round tables beat rigid hierarchy every time, and good ideas can come from anyone. Everyone here is expected to contribute to the thinking, shape the work, and help build the kind of company they want to be part of.
This is a place where you can have real impact. To work on national brands across a range of categories, alongside talented people who care. Not a cog in a big machine – an opportunity to build something different.
THE ROLE
The Account Manager cares about the work just as much as the creative team does. This role sits at the center of projects, helping ideas move from brief to launch. It’s about much more than managing the project – it’s shaping the right conversations, bringing clarity to feedback, and ensuring the work gets better at every step.
Strong performance in this role requires organization, proactivity, and thoughtful judgment. The Account Manager builds and maintains clear timelines, aligns scope with what we’re making, tracks budgets, and keeps the details in order so that everyone else can focus on the work. All while anticipating client needs, proactively flagging problems before they become problems, and always looking for ways to make the work better. This role requires asking good questions, knowing when to push, and protecting the work with thoughtfulness and context. Equal parts relationship builder and operator, this role keeps things moving, keeps expectations aligned, and earns trust with everyone involved, especially when things get messy.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead the day-to-day project management from kickoff through delivery, partnering closely with creatives and keeping momentum without complicating the process
Act as a trusted and reliable client contact, building relationships grounded in clarity, responsiveness, and follow-through
Shepherd creative work through the agency – making sure the timelines, expectations, and project scope stay on track
Work closely with internal producers and external partners to move projects smoothly through all phases of production through to delivery
Translate client feedback into useful direction for the team, always keeping in mind what will strengthen the work
Help draft project scopes and track budgets and billing, flagging risks before they become problems
Participate in client meetings and presentations with an understanding of the work and project details, confident and prepared to answer client questions
Manage client status meetings and share timely meeting notes and next steps with clients and partners
Stay close to your clients’ business, competition, and overall category so your perspective gets sharper over time
Manage internal processes thoughtfully, anticipate project roadblocks and proactively solve for them
Surface opportunities both internally and in the clients’ business – if you have a good idea or see something we don’t, we want to hear it.
Speak up when something doesn’t feel right, whether it’s identifying a problem or advocating for the work when feedback or direction starts to cause drift – and knowing when to escalate issues
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT.
People who do well at Standard Practice share a few traits:
You care about whether the work actually works. You believe creativity carries responsibility. It’s not about what you like, what you think the client will like, but about what their audience likes – and what will get them to engage with the brand and generate real outcomes.
You’re a collaborator at heart. You know a good idea can come from anywhere, so you always remain open – to sharing your ideas, helping to strengthen someone else’s, and being a great listener.
You’re comfortable building as you go. The clear path forward at Standard Practice isn’t laid out for anyone – it requires flexibility, ownership, and a “let’s figure this out together” attitude. You don’t wait for things to be perfect. You help intuit and create what’s needed.
You value clarity over complexity. The best ideas are often the simplest ones. You know how to get there through clear thinking, exceptional craft, and hard-working execution.
You leave your ego at the door. Sometimes the job is big creative thinking, sometimes it’s fixing a deck at the last minute. You’re good with both because the work matters more than anything else.
